Guy LeRoy Stevick, director and retired vice president of the Fidelity and Deposit Company and American Bonding Company, died Thursday at his home in Atherton, Cal. He was 90.

A native of Carlisle, Pa., Mr. Stevick was a member of Dickinson College's Class of 1885, and later attended the University of Pennsylvania Law School. He was admitted to the Philadelphia bar in 1888 and the following year moved to Denver, where he practiced law for 21 years, during most of which time he also served as local attorney for the Fidelity and Deposit Company.

In 1910, Mr. Stevick gave up his law practice in Denver to accept an appointment to supervise the Fidelity and Deposit's West Coast operations and continued in that capacity with the company until his retirement in 1947. He was elected a vice president of the F&D in 1920 and a director in 1929.

Mr. Stevick, a pioneer in the surety field, figured prominently in many of the industry's biggest bonding deals.

Probably outstanding among his achievements was the part he played in organizing the group of six construction firms which built the Hoover Dam in the 1930's, and arranging for the execution of what up to that time was the largest performance bond ever written in this country, covering the $48,990,999 project.
