Relocation1791In 1791, Henry Pittenger, Jr., moved to Brooke County, West Virginia. They settled in Brook County, WV, which is in the panhandle between Pennsylvania and Ohio, next to Hancock Cty. Until 1863 it was Virginia. They had 7 children, among them were Henry Pittenger (1764) who married Polly Barcus and his brother Nicholas who married Lidia Barcus. They moved to Brooke County with Joachim Wickoff, Maria's brother, and his family.

There are 32 Pittenger records on Findagrave in Hancock County. Henry is buried there, in Flats Cemetery, New Manchester.4

McCombs, a staff physician at the Pratt Diagnostic Clinic of the New England Medical Center for more than three decades, died Feb. 14 at the Hilton Head Hospital. He was 81 and lived in Hilton Head, S.C.

A native of Philadelphia, Dr. McCombs graduated from Yale University in 1931 and the University of Pennsylvania Medical School in 1935.

He joined the Pratt staff in 1945 after serving as a Navy doctor in England during World War II.

A specialist in clinical immunology, allergy and diseases of the chest, Dr. McCombs served on the editorial board of the New England Journal of Medicine and was president of the Postgraduate Medical Institute for 10 years.

He leaves his wife, Dorothy; a daughter Patricia Megan of Hilton Head; a son Dr. Peter of Huntingdon Valley, Pa., and three grandchildren.
