Sanford, 73, a former highly-respected resident of this place, died Sunday, March 12, in his home on the Vineland pike, Millville, N.J. He was a native of Fall River, Mass., where he was engaged in the cotten manufacturing business during his early life. After leaving that city he lived a number of years in Putney on the old Samuel Knight farm, half a mile from the Houghton farm. He sold the place to E.E. Blood and went from here to Millville about four years ago. He leaves a wife, eight sons and one daughter. The funeral was held in the home, Tuesday evening and the burial took place in Fall River, Mass. The Millville daily newspaper said of Mr. Sanford: Mr. Sanford had a large acquaintance among the mill men of the New England and Middle states, and was everywhere held in the highest esteem for his sturdy and upright character. |
