Obituary22 September 200522 September 2005, Obituary:. Douglas R. Horman, 80, of Holiday Heights, Berkeley, died Wednesday, Sept. 21, at Community Medical Center. Born in Newark, he lived in Belleville before moving to Holiday Heights in 1991.
He was employed as plant manager of Haward Corp. in North Arlington for 25 years before his retirement in 1989.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of Silver Holiday Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10185 of Berkeley.
He attended Pinelands Reformed Church.
He was a member and former treasurer of Free and Accepted Masons Harmony Lodge 18, past master of F&AM Nutley Lodge 25, a member and treasurer of Sea Bay Forest Cedars of Lebanon 157 Toms River, and a member of Salaam Temple in Livingston and the Quarry Club of Lacey.
His son Raymond Horman died in 1991.
Surviving are his wife, Irene Schardt Horman; a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Stephanie Horman of Morristown; and a grandson, Raymond.
Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and a funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at "The Family Owned" Carmona-Bolen Home for Funerals, 412 Main St., Toms River. Burial will follow at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle New Jersey Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Masonic Home in Burlington would be appreciated.

Of interest to friends of the young couple in Salt Lake City is the announcement by Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Hewitson Monroe of Virginia and Washington, D. C. of the engagement of their daughter, Helen Elizabeth, to Linden E. Crone, Washington attorney, and son of Mr. and Mrs. John V. Crone of Salt Lake City. Both young people are well known in Salt Lake City, the bride-elect having visited here some years ago, and the bridegroom having been a resident of this city for many years.

Miss Monroe is a native of Virginia, and is a descendant of the family of President James Monroe. She is a former student of William and Mary college and is a graduate of George Washington university. She is a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha and Theta Kappa Sigma sororities.

Mr. Crone is a former Salt Lake City newspaper man, having been connected with the staffs of both the Tribune and the Telegram. He is a graduate of the University of Utah and the George Washington univeristy law school, and is a member of the Sigma Nu, Delta Theta Phi and Pi Delta Epsilon fraternities. He was also a member of the Owl and Key and Skull and Bones activity fraternities at the University of Utah. He was well known in local tennis circles.

The marriage will take place September 20 at the home of the bride in Washington.

Cremated, Ashes scattered, Specifically: A few ashes were scattered at her memorial marker at the Unitarian Meeting facility in Annapolis MD and the rest were scattered at the Atlantic Ocean shoreline in Ocean City MD by her daughter and the daughter's children and grandchildren.

Betty Just was married to Linden Esgar Crone from September 20, 1935 until his death in May, 1970. In 1977 she married her first cousin Carl Hercus Just until he died in 1998.
