Joseph Steinmetz, brother of Mrs. Charles McCarthy, 133 West St. Joseph St., Easton, died Friday evening at his home, 3300 North Thirteenth street, Philadelphia, where he had resided many years. Mr. Steinmetz, a former resident of Easton, was 84 years of age. He will be remembered by many of the older residents of that community.

Deceased is also survived by his wife and three daughters and a son, residents of Philadelphia. Funeral services will be conducted there on Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock. Mrs. McCarthy and members of her family will be in attendance.

Obituary28 January 193928 January 1939, Allentown, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, Morning Call Obituary:. Mrs. Catherine McCarthy, 85, widow of Charles McCarthy, died Thursday night at the home, 133 W. St. Joseph St., Easton, following an illness of three weeks.

Mrs. McCarthy was a daughter of the late John and Mary Steinmetz. Her Husband preceded her in death last summer.

Four children survive: Mrs. Frank Martin and Mrs. Lillian Fleming, at home; Mrs. Frank Terinelli, Phillipsburg, N.J. and Raymond T. McCarthy, Lehigh, '20, Easton.

Mrs. McCarthy was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic church and the ladies auxiliary of Banner State lodge, Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen and the Mothers of 1917.

The funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday from the late residence. Solemn requiem mass will be offered in St. Bernard's Catholic church at 10 a.m. Burial will be made in the parish cemetery, South Easton.

Charles Henry McCarthy, headkeeper at the Northampton county prison, who had been a guard at the prison for the past nineteen years, died suddenly at his home, 133 St. Joseph street, Easton, on Wednesday night, from heart failure. He was in his eightieth year.

Mr. McCarthy was on duty at the prison as usual on Wednesday, and did not complain of any illness during the day. He was stricken following the evening meal. Before becoming a prison guard, he was in the candy and digar business in Easton.

Mr. McCarthy is survived by five children, Raymond T. McCarthy, of Bethlehem, who was captain of the Lehigh University football team in 1921; Charles Henry McCarthy, Jr., Mrs. Lillian Fleming and Mrs. Frank Martin, of Easton, and Mrs. Frank Terinell, of Phillipsburg.

Taken ill Thursday, Mrs. Martin was a native and life-long resident of Easton's South Side. She was a daughter of the late Charles and Catherine McCarthy, a member of St. Bernard's Catholic church and the Woman's Catholic Educational Assn.

Besides her husband she is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Lillie Fleming, at home, and Mrs. Frank Trinelli, Phillipsburg, N.J., and a brother, Raymond McCarthy, Easton.

The funeral will be held from the late home at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, with solemn requiem mass at 10 a.m. in St. Bernard's church.

Mrs. West was born in Lehigh County, a daughter of the late George and Rachel Steinmetz. She was a member of Second Methodist Church, South Side and Camp 15, P.O. of A., Phillipsburg.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Reilly, with whom she resided and Hazel Welder, of Easton; a son, Ervin West, of Phillipsburg, two brothers, Oscar Steinmetz, of Phillipsburg, and Ira Steinmetz, of Trenton, N.J.; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
