A member of Teamsters Union Local 773, Allentown, he was a truck driver for Eastern Industries, Allentown, for 38 years until retiring in 1986.

Born in Alpha, N.J. he was a son of the late Charles and Esther (Serfoto) Phillips.

He was a Presbyterian. He was an Army veteran of World War II, having served in European Theatre.

Survivors: Wife, sons Louis F. Jr., of Easton, George C. of Plamer Township and James A. of Fountain Hill; daughters, Blanche L. Frankenfield of Phillipsburg and Luann E. Jones of Easton; sister, Betty Mannick of Bangor, nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Carl H. Manicke, 61, of Stewartsville R.D., N.J., mayor of surrounding Greenwich Township 1980-81, died Tuesday in Warren Hospital. He was the husband of Elizabeth (Phillips) Manicke.

He also was committeeman and a former member of the township planning board.

Born in Easton, he was a son of Agnes (Erkinger) Manicke of Wilson and the late Albert Manicke.

Among the survivors, with his widow and mother are a son Alan of Bangor; a daughter Dawn, at home, and a brother Albert of Allentown.
