Charles P. Smith Sr., 90, of 411 Third Beach Road, Middletown, a retired farmer, died at Newport Hospital this morning. In poor health for some time, he had been in the hospital for a month.
Born in Middletown Feb. 19, 1867, he was a son of George W. and Orell Sherman [sic] Smith. His wife, Mrs. Mary Delaney Smith, died several years ago.
Surviving are a son, Charles P. Smith Jr. of Middletown, four daughters, Mrs. Catherine Hersch and Mrs. John Rennie of Newport, Mrs. Ralph C. Smith of Middletown and Mrs. A. R. Booth of Auburn, Mass and Plainfield, N.J., 16 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. |
