Alexander Kilpatrick

M, #10403

Biography

Oath of Allegiance1 July 1777Alexander took an Oath of Allegiance on 1 July 1777, Lower Mount Bethel Township, Northampton County, Pennsylvania, before Samuel Rea, Justice of the Peace. This oath renounced all allegiance to George the Third, King of Great Britain, and his heirs and successors.
Census1786He appeared in the census 1786 in Northampton County, Pennsylvania. Alexander is listed as: #118, Kilpatrick Alexander.

Also, under Single Freemen, numbers 274 and 274 are Kirkpatrick.
274 is possibly Aaron or something beginning with P
275 seems to start with Bus and end with der.

This census is alphabetical by township.1
Census1790He appeared in the census 1790 in Lower Mount Bethel Township, Northampton County, Pennsylvania. Alexander is listed as: Alexander Kilpatrick
3 males 16 and upwards
2 males under 16
1 female

Neighbors Many Teels (Adam, Leonard, Frederick), David Lockard, Alexander Lockard, Frederick Kerk, John Miller, Robert Galloway, Moses Balden, Robert McCumen

Could this possibly be the father of the Alexander who appears in the next censuses?

Could this possibly by any stretch of the imagination be the father of Lucas?
Tax List1798Alexander appeared on the tax list of in Lower Mount Bethel Township, Northampton County, Pennsylvania, in 1798. Alexander Kirkpatrick, unknown tax year between 1768 and 1801, 150 acres of land, 2 horses, 2 cattle. Probably the 1798 tax list. On the 1798 acreage list, he has 125 acres valued at $500.

In the 1798 tax list, there are 2 separate listings for Kirpatrick [sic] John.
1) Owner and Occupant, 1 house, 1 out house, house 20x25, wood, assessed value $110. On the acreage list, there is only one John, and he has 125 acres, valued at $500.

2) Owner and Occupant, 1 house, 2 out houses, house 20x25, wood, assessed value $1202
Census1800He appeared in the census 1800 in Lower Mount Bethel Township, Northampton County, Pennsylvania. Alexander is listed as: Alex'r Kirkpatrick, 1 male 26-44, 1 female 25-44.

Birth range of 1756 -1774. Since no children are listed, and they are not elderly, his birth year is probably towards the end of the range.

There is also a John Kirkpatrick, 1 male 26-44, 1 female 25-44. Two men named John are on the 1798 Tax List, two separate dwellings. Maybe the same John, but it shows Owner and Occupant to be the same person for both dwellings.
Census1810He appeared in the census 1810 in Lower Mount Bethel Township, Northampton County, Pennsylvania. Alexander is listed as: Allex'r Kirkpatrick

A Robert Ross, age 19, is farming with Joseph Hauck, age 24 (wife Maria) nearby. Samuel's Robert was born 21 May 1830, so this is very likely Samuel's son.

Several families away was Thomas Ross, age 34, with wife Margaret and daughters Sarah and Catharine. Samuel's Thomas was not born until 1823, so this is most likely one of his nephews.

Neighbors were Cressman's, Butz, Ott, Taylor and Miller's.
